Maxi Drive diffs

I know of a landy series 3 ex army troopie hardtop for sale with front and rear lockers with Maxi drive lockers. he says they (the Lockers) were put on ny the army. What setup configeration would it have and is it stronger than 94 defender diffs.

I want to build a low budget series 3 shorty diesel powered best. so This cheap landy will get me lockers and strong axles if there strong enough.

Ps. If sam O wants to get rid of his current roll cage let me know when the time comes as a want it for my project. (saves me makin my own :lol: )

The maxi locker carier is far stronger the\an the Rover unit.
Plus you get the diff locks.

I find it unlikely that LR's were fitted with MD lockers whilst in the army, but anything is possible. AFAIK Mal only started making his lockers in the mid-late '80's.

If it was an old MD conversion you would have:

24spline EN25 (or EN26) axles front and rear (stronger than std series (or 110)) but not as strong as the AMS 6418??? used now. You would also have a 4-pin front diff centre - which is very strong. Rear will be a salisbury which is v-strong and comes std with a 4-pin diff.

The only problem with fitting these to a SWB will be the salisbury rear (SWB had rover rear) - which has a longer diff centre so you need a shorter propshaft and may need to angle the diff nose up. You also need to move the spring pads further in as the SWB and LWB have different rear spring spacings.
