Hi guys dono if its a Tonka but i have searched for ages ..

What is the average kms you can get out of a td42 in a gq?

Looking at buying a diesel gq they all have 200 - 380000kms

my old man knew a guy that got his to 900000 without a problem so decided it was time for a bit of forced induction which the truck loved until 1.2 mill when the guy flipped it and wrote it off.

the gq is the best 4wd ever produced imo, i had a wagon, now i have a gu ute, the gq was a far better vehicle

from what i hear an abused NA will do 5-600 thousand easy.

ive just clocked 300,000km in my TD42t GU and it is getting cained, lol! it has 13pound through it atm and ill be pumpiong more into it soon! It doesnt blow smoke and is loving everybit of life

Yes theyre a strong motor but if you don't give them decent oil every 5000km you'll find the valvetrain worn out faster than a hooker's privates. Plus the sooty oil ends up as sludge which slowly blocks it up and returns you with spun bearings.

Another common issue is the cooling systems arent maintained. If its not running at the right temperature it will be very sludgey as the pistons never really expanded to their operating tolerances. Plus if the coolant isnt changed regularly with the right mix you end up with a rusty or scaley cooling system which will also fark a td42 over real quickly.

But in general they will just go, and go and go.

yeah ive always done 5000kms services.. how often should the coolant be done every 20000kms?
