Rock Sliders

Just wondering if anyone knows where I can buy good Rock Sliders for an 83 Rangie in Sydney.I know KLR used to make some good ones,but they stopped making them and only make Defender ones now.

I know Rangie Spares sell them.But I wanted to be able to see before I buy,and Melbourne is a litttle too far away.Haven't seen too many on Rangies around here to compare,apart from the KLR ones.Was hoping that someone may know of some locally manufactured ones

Just looking at the way those sliders are mounted with what looks like pop rivets into the sill and floor pan,I can see how they would be solid enough in the short term,but am a bit concerned about the long term mountings as most things I have seen mounted with alloy pop rivets,the rivets usually stretch and become loose,has anyone had this happen or does anyone have another way of mounting sliders to a 4 dr Rangie?

tek screws are how mine are mounted but I would rather have them riveted, if mine break off then they would be a real bugger to remove

Sikaflex is your friend. Once they are glued on and rivited they will never move. To get them off basically the only way to doit is to cut them off with a knife. The surface area that is glued is massive.

Other way to do it of course is to mount something off the chassis but it would be very difficult to end up with something as clean and as strong as this setup. Most that I have seen mounted off the chassis tend to get pushed into the doors and basically this type of slider is going to hang about 4inches lower that the ones we make.

the sliders i put on my 87 rr are attached with
rivnuts & 8mm bolts strong as anything & if
need be just unbolt them / teks & rivets i think would
get lose if you bash them alot

I don't know what rivets were used. 1/4" Monel Metal rivets are extremely strong - they are used to attach fittings to yacht masts and booms. But they are hard to pop only lazy tongs AFAIK generate enough force.
