Development new 4x4 system

Post by PhRider »

Dear outerlimts members,

We are three students in ‘Product Innovation & Entrepreneurship’ at the University of Antwerp Management School (Belgium).
Currently we are developing an automatic system that makes 4x4 vehicles get unstuck faster and more efficiently, whenever they got stuck.
We would like to make use of your experience and knowledge to improve the product and to define market potential.
Therefore your opinion is very welcome in our online survey (5 to 20 small questions, when you don not match our target group this will be rather short).

The survey has ended!

Thanks everybody who filled it in!

And why a management school?

Hmmm, are you conducting a fake survey for the purpose of collating information for a management thesis? :)

My bet is for logging your ISP/MAC addresses for spam.... :bad-words: :bad-words:

If the initial poster ("Researcher") would like to come forward with a bit more information than a "hit my site" request, perhaps we may consider giving our opinion. Until then I would say AVOID THIS SITE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

This smells of scam/spam.

If it was a legit research process then you should have a website affiliated with the University of Antwerp, surely, and not "Spam/scam Central" Google????

Does the new innovation involve the use of IFS, wiper shims and headlight fluid to break through the first layer of gravity and, in doing so, answer that age old question of how to lift a mav? :?:

Interesting that none of their names or their research shows up on the Universities management research web page.

http://www.ua.ac.be/main.aspx?c=.ONDERZ ... showproj=1
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Hi all,

I can ensure you that this survey is not a scam. We don't want your emailadresses, in order to fill in the questionnaire you only have to fill in a name, whether you fill in your forum name, your emailadress or a name you just made up, it all doesn't matter to us. (I will add this also to the first post of this topic, just to make it all clear. Which we should have already done in the first place..)

The reason why we are not mentionned in the list of researchers of the University of Antwerp, is because we are still students. As part of getting our degrees this summer, we have to make a business plan and this survey is part of it.

Thanks for all the valuable feedback and for filling in our survey!

PhiRider, I completed the survey, however, why does the survey shut you out if you don't participate in "desert" travel? when it accepts "trail" as a terrain and allows mud/rock etc as a type of "stuck"

It seems you are maybe limiting your survey group or possible market for your product due to some assumptions about the use.

Steve.

Nobody's making you fill it out Bogged, but my wife's doing her masters atm and you'd be surprised what questions a management student might want to ask. She's just done a group assignment on ARB airlockers.

You don't have to put in an email addy, any name will do - it's just (almost) meaningless data.... these guys just need some data to write a paper. Give them a break.

I did a university assignment last semester where using university e-mail acounts did not give my group and I the flexibility we required for the project. We used google groups because its a free service and it does offer some very usefull document exchange functions etc.

Give google groups a go, its quite good. Some people might even find it a good way to organise a 4wding trip with their mates ;)

Dunno about 'the product' though :? Sounds like 4 automatic high-lift jacks attached to the underside!

That'd be safe on hills, right?

(yes i understand it's just a mock up product for a research assignment)

Now tell me if i am a bit naive, but what can they possibly get from your internet service provider (i assume you mean ip) or mac address that will open the door to spam.

An IP addy is pretty useless information, they dont ask for email address or even a real name so its highly doubtful to me you have anything to lose by clicking on the link.

e-mail the university, then either the students will get straitened out by their co-ordinator (been there, done that), or this will be revealed as a big crock. The University will not want its name tarnished by its own students or fraudsters, and so should be co-operative.

Do you honestly think these scammers are students at university??? My guess is that the uni are very well aware of what is happening, and powerless to get anything done to repair their reputation.

Hate to say I told you so, but........

All they have to do is get you to click a button on their site and it is possible to download malware that seeks your personal information (email addresses etc) and load software that turns your computer into a mule for their spam. What better way than with an innocent looking "questionnaire".

I am thinking they are not legit, after what Ruff is putting up with, however there is a chance they are legit, and I know what its like trying to get this sort of stuff for uni.

what you say is not however unfair, as they don't seem to be trying too hard to verify their legitimacy.
