MK 2.8 non turbo hard to start all of a sudden.

Post by Vineboy »

As the heading says. All of a sudden my ute is getting really (I mean REALLY) hard to start. The glow plugs are only a year old so I hope it's not them. Any ideas?

I can vouch for that! My TD seams to be very hard on glow plugs, with some only lasting 30,000km.

Check the power is getting to them first though, before you replace them. You can check the resistance of the plug by putting one lead of your multi-meter on the centre electrode clamp and the other on the body of the plug.
New, they should read approx 0.8 ohm.

Hope this helps
