Hi everyone, im just getting into four wheel driving but most of my mates arent really into it and dont have four wheel drives themselves, so im looking at joining a club..
However, it seems that almost all of the clubs in Victoria are mainly people over 28..
Are there any younger blokes out there that would reccomend a club to check out? Im from SE Suburbs in Melbourne so dont want to have to travel over the otherside of town for club meets..

4x4 Clubs for younger ppl
Moderators: toaddog, TWISTY, V8Patrol, Moderators
Suzuki 4WD club.
Members of all ages but plenty of under 30's - always have a couple of members still on P's or just off.
We're not a suzuki only club- we've got Jeeps, discos, hiluxes etc, and meet in Glen Iris.

it really doesnt matter about the age of the club members, its more about how active they are. You will only get out of a club what you put into it. so the more active you are the more you will enjoy the club.

My group of mates (about 8) go away every couple of weeks, and usually you get mates of your mates, family, local tradies, local guys that've just got into 4wding that contact us and end up tagging along.
I dont think you should stress about a clubs average age. Most clubs offer a trial thing anyway dont they???

For young people i'd say the suzuki club. After all Zook are toys and kids play with toys. When they mature they'll grow out of the toy thing, buy a proper 4WD and join a different club

why not have a look at some of the forum organised event and days out that members organise on the 4x4 action forum?
Ive been out on one of them and it the same case as yourself....people who have at any stage no one else to go wheeling with so a bunch of like minded individuals organise to go out together.
Me and my mates, western suburbs melbourne usually go wheeling once a month, and we always say we wont go too hard but always end up going beyond we expected and we are all in our 30's.
if you ever want to tag along, let me know.

I hear what your saying, and I am not at all saying there is anything wrong with hanging around with older blokes, but in my position i am 22 and single, and when I'm with my mates we talk about going out and getting absolutely blind, and just playing up in general.. as opposed to talking about your house, or your wife or your kids..coxy321 wrote:AGREED!!! No offence its just not the same
When I got my license I starting out with the landcruiser club, a club that is generally 40+ and families. I got over it. Being told I was too young to know what I was talking about, trips full of retirees and families with kids... I wasn't really able to engage with the club.
(No offence to TLC members, it's a great club, just not for younger members)
A bunch of us at the time (about 1993) migrated across to the Suzuki Club, and I'm still there.
I need to just point out something though - A group of mates going away or forum get togethers are one thing, but there not a club.
some clubs are formal and a PITA to be a member of, but not all clubs are like that. however, club membership has a number of advantages (like liability insurance over and above your vehicle insurance)
