Well went for a play tonight and finally got pics of the snorkel!
Bracketed to the arial hole!
Side on!
I like that more than my old one!
I have to admit the black one did put up with a beating but it had like a 45 coming out that dragged along every thing where as the new one in curved! The black one the top got caught on a tree and i kept driving witch made it snap!

I though it was exhaust pipe but only the bend coming out from the gaurd was the up rite bit was PVC covered in fibre glass but the top got caught on a tree when i was in bonnet deep mud and being in a NT scapping along the bank cause i didn't fit in the ruts! Got a pic on my phone of the snapped off one if you really wanna see it! Pulled the areil out and snaped it to!

and now the new one will explode when you hit a tree or lean against a bank etc. Ask christover what sort of noise it made and all the dangerous shrapnel that went flyingsuzuki boy wrote:I though it was exhaust pipe but only the bend coming out from the gaurd was the up rite bit was PVC covered in fibre glass but the top got caught on a tree when i was in bonnet deep mud and being in a NT scapping along the bank cause i didn't fit in the ruts! I still think felxible hose is the go for snorkels, of course they aren't the prettiest but since when were fourbies meant to be pretty? And they will outlast PVC by many thousands of miles and unlike stainless won't cause more damage to your panels if you do touch a tree and it will just spring back into shape when you do.
Each to their own of course, I think the stainless ones look alot better but virtually the same price as a pvc one you could have a much better snorkel that IMO looks just as good if not better than PVC.
My two cents, flame suit on....

My Zooks not pretty, its dead Sexy
You said it!GRPABT1 wrote:Each to their own of course
My votes for stainless, make a PVC one to see where you want to run the snorkel, then take it to an exhaust shop and use the PVC for a pattern for the stainless one.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
If you're hitting the pvc one all the time then you'll hit the staino one too. Maybe some trippy out the bonnet snorkel or the like to keep it inside the outer panels would be the go.suzuki boy wrote:Definatly cant keep a PVC snorkel on a NT i have found out so stainless is being put instead!

thats the plan - now that i have a pvc one, when i go to the zorst place for my extractors/pipe i can get them to bend up a snorkel aswell! You said it!GRPABT1 wrote:Each to their own of course

I have seen patrols and cars with stainless that have hit banks and they don't come out as bad as you think!GRPABT1 wrote:If you're hitting the pvc one all the time then you'll hit the staino one too. Mine bein a NT though its more how it comes out of the body! With pvc its a 90 degree peice but the guy who i want to build my snorkel it will come out on the angle and looks awsome!(You probably dont get what i mean but it sort of works it's way out of the body at like 10 degrese and work's it's way out......)

this is my snorkle...just rubber bends and aluminium pipe i got for free.
not the best pic but you get the idea. Bunnings sell a drainpipe flywire mesh protector which fits perfectly onto the 3inch rubber bend pipe to stop leaves and mud chunks getting into the intake....
Where did you get the rubber bends from Dank?
I was at Bunnings today but they only had PVC bends.
g'day cairnszook, I got my bends from a place called truckbits in dandenong, vic. A trucking supplies store will have them.

65mm PVC. im a plumber so cost me nothing. i used in total
2 90 bends
1 plumb quick to attach the pipe to the air box
3 15 bends
1 90 65 to 75mm for the top.
1 3 inch cap
i just put a hole saw in the cap and put in some stainless steel mesh in there.

least being a plumber he can re-make it every week lol
