has anyone used the cross over steering yet and how much better is it compared to standard steering???
Yep I have Snake Racing cross over highsteer on my lux and have had it since about May. Mine was (as far as I know) the first Hilux to use it.

i am runnin Snake Racing histeer arms same as guts, i have had it 4 bout 5 or 6 months and its MAD!!!!!! lighter steerin, allows more travel without bindin on the same springs. but yeah mad

I did get a look at a 75 series over here that had a flipped arm.
What he had done was to machine both arms flat so he could put one on top of the other but not weld at all.
The studs were replaced with longer ones and he put the cone washers back in factory position then placed the second set of cones on reversed then the upside down arm, lock washers and nuts.
Must be workng well because hes done two NZ 4X4 challenges and just returned from the Malaysian Rain Forest.

Ive seen this way tried before and i would be realy surprised if he hasnt brocken the studs a few times.
The prob with double stacking the cone locks is that the top one will usually bind up on the stud before the bottom one has much pressure on it and then you have an arm with enough movement to just cut the studs off like a guilotine would and the longer the stud the more leverage there is. Also machining it down so its flat takes a lot of strength from them. There is no prob welding them as they are not Cast Iron they are Cast Steel and take a weld real well.

Not quite that simple. Major mods do require cert but after having mine done its not a difficult process to pass.
The major concern from engineers is the trucks ability to stop. The brake test is quite harsh, you accelerate to 100k the stomp on the brakes as hards you can and the truck must stop under 4secs, then the process is repeated another 2 times in quick succession. Its almost impossibe to pass if you run Simexs or Swampers because of the tyre weight. I used 33's for my cert then refitted the Simexs later

how i did my double arm is to get longer studs and bolthe first arm down as normal then put a second set of cone washers on upside down ontop of the nuts that are already tightened done then drop the second arm on and do it up. That way both arms are clamped individually and they shouldnt come undone as the top arm basically works as a lock nut.
OK, Question for those with flipped arms, what pitman arm have you got and how is your drag link constructed ??
Have any of you used a hilux arm for the flip ??
Got my new sump sorted, finally, it was soooo easy, picked up an oil pump and sump pan from an old 4M powered Crown and it bolts straight up to my 5M Supra... NO mods, how cool is that and it looks like I have room for xover now.. Yahoo !!!!

I am using a 80 series pitman arm (flatter). I am using a hilux arm for the fliped double arm.

I used a fj60 drag link with standard hilux tie rod ends (left and right). I think, I went to the wreckers and found a rod the lenght I needed and used it. Then I added standard hilux tie rod ends.
