Toyota Troop Carrier 70s vs Toyota 60 series

HI can someone please tell me the benefits of the toyota troop carrier 1(983-1990) over the 60 series landcruiser and vice versa. I am stuck on which one o get for the 4wd and camping trips i will be doing??

hi mate id go the troopy over the 60 any day had a few ov each 75 is a better truck in my opin you can deck them out very well and add a 79 series grill and give it a polish and it will look like a 2005 mod . both ok in the bush troopy is more top hevy but if you are aware of that its not a prob . id only go a 60 if you need the back seats for kids . my mate has a troopy with rv seats in the back and its hard to get the kids in and out ov there car seats .

60s are cheap, finding a decent troopy for the price of a great 60 is hard.

Having done many trips in a troopy and a 60, I prefer the troopy simply for the extra space.
At first I thought it was a sea anemone, upon closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.

How does the troopy being top heavy effect the way it performs off road?Sorry may seem simple but i am new to 4x4.

I don't think the troopy is a whole lot more 'top heavy', but it does have a narrower track - so is less stable offroad. I still think most people would be surprised at how far they'll go before the big flop. The extra width and shape in the body of a 60 may actually be detrimental in offroad performance when compared to a 70 (though the 60 does have slightly less rear overhang)

As others have said - a 60 will be cheaper for same quality. Parts are widely available for both (drivelines are near identical anyway). The troopy can carry more crap, but it's harder to get at especially if you have a cargo barrier installed. I'm not 100% but i believe the 60's have longer springs, hence they seem to ride better.

Other way around, 70 series cruiser, (except middy and shorty rears) run longer springs. Middies and shorties run the same rears as a 60. All 70s run 50mm longer fronts. Rears vary but are longer. Ride probably due to 70's running MASSIVE springs with 8 leaves or something stupid

and 60/middy rears fit in the front of a 70 series with 2'' shackles giving a hell long flexy spring! :twisted: just need reeaaallyyy long shocks

lets not forget the 12HT 60 series, which is vastly superior to any 2H or 1HZ powered slug. you can pick a good one up for around $10k these days. Bargain.
