Although I don't run claws, I have seen an increasing tread in the US mags where plenty of the rock crawlers are running the claws mounted backwards....
Then I did some experiement with my R/C which has claw like tyres and noted that there is considerablely more bite, especially on the edges...
Anywasy I'd be interested to see thought of those that have ACTUALLY tried...

I HAVE NOT TRIED THEM.

But, in theory and from other tyres in other sports etc.. THe rear tyre on some brands is just a reversed directional front tyre as to provide more bite.

I reckon running the rears reversed < and the fronts directional > would aid steering in sloppy or loose conditions while the rear would bite adding traction.

Yeah James ive borrowed a set to see how they perform .

The bloke ive got'em off has always run them with rotation , But i had remembered Ruff was runnin them backwards so thats the way there on the me truck now still nice n square edges that way , but i was just after peoples opinions of wat they thought as i have had no time to try em b4 2morra and 1 trial would definately not give a good idea whether they do work betta either way so i guess they will stay backwards as no-ones replyed with any bad news .

SO i will c u 2morra by the sounds of things who u runnin with ??\

The owner of Avalanche Engineeringin the US was running them against the rotation during Peterson's 4 Wheel Drive "Ultimate Adventure"

That caught my eye, and I figured that that is good only for the rocks and not for the mud...

With that said, if I were to get my hands on any directional tires, I would probably run them as stated...

C'mon JK

U could have answered all those Q's

They went very well once on the good stuff very nice grip on the rocks gotta luv the sound they make wen (clawing) at the rocks!!!.

But i think they r betta suited to a bigga (heavier) truck after seeing just how betta they worked (bagged) on Steves Gu and Carltons Mav

Did i notice any road noise ,put it this way im still hummin (how bout you ,r u still answering your wife with HEY WAT DID U SAY SPEAK UP WOMEN! after your ride in A1 .

Yeah corner wats that still laughin at u ( ive had to replace my jesus bar cause u wore it out on the trip down) ive also given it to the authoritys there takin a print of your fingers from the handle mate

Im sure JK thought i had been on the piss with the way the zook was dartin ,driftin, wonderin all over the road, It scared him enough to get a ride home with Craig(Cplux).

Cheers to all the people that went on the day especially all those that helped keep little A1 upright on a few ocasions , a awesome day :P

P.s wen r we gunna get some photos up on da site

For those interested i also ran them at 5psi but could of went to zero im sure

heh heh yeah I certainly could have... yep I am still partially deaf, but the ringing has stopped. :P

It was an interesting drive back to the halfway house... certainly much better when aired up.

You kept those big boys honest though.

In my opinion, I think that they would probably work just as well in both directions on your truck, but they would probably be better on road when directional.

Sorry i have only run them backwards so far thats why i didnt reply to this as i have no real opinion on them yet. I still havent even decided if i like the tyre yet ive only driven on them a few times.
So far they havent impressed me anymore than my 33 JT2s to be truthfull. I havent driven anywhere yet with them that i thought there is no way i could have got here on the 33s.
When i get my Rig back together i will get some time to experiment and see how they go.

Cool, it will be good to hear your feedback.

The other guys running them on the weekend didn't think that the claws were that much of an improvement on pure rock, but that they certainly dug into soft rocky ground very effectively. This was demonstrated pretty well at Fred's on Sun with 3 of the rigs running claws on the day.

It was quite amusing being able to hear Carlton coming from about 200m away when he arrived in the morning...

BTW Ruff, were you running the 11.5 wide JT2s?

Yes i was i was going to go for 34s but at that time they were only available in a 10.5 so i bought 33/11.5s.
If they were going to bring out the JT2 in a 37 i would sell the claws and buy them but they are not planning this.
