Guy's,
Today I removed the long axel and cv joint so I could replace the axel oil seal and put a seal kit and new turning bearings in the front end.
However I am having trouble aligning the front axel back into the diff. I know about the flat surfaces ont eh cv joint being up and down, the axel wont seat itsel into the diff. Now I'm not sure if the end needs to be 'lifted' to align it inside the diff centre or what, but it wont slide in.
So whats the trick to getting the end in
The annoying thing is I have changed the CV once before and it went straight in no worries. I must of jagged it that time cause it just wont play the game this time around.
Push down on the CV a little and wiggle it around from side to side a bit this will lift the end of the axle. Try to rotate it back and forth a little to allight the splines.
I'll give it another go in the morning,
murphy's law kicked in here. I did the right side in no time at all, thought I would get the left side in before picking the boys up from daycare.
