It should be a 2.5, if its the diesel, or a 1600 for a petrol. If its a diesel, then a turbo intercooled 2.8 and gearbox out of a Rocky would go in nicely. And my lockers.

What model is it .The early diesels were real slow.

I got a 78f20 and a 84 scat both retired down the farm been thinking about restoring the scat ( i miss it) There better in the bush than a rocky.

Hey Lads, I think its an early one.....I haven't seen the truck in ages. I believe he put the delta engine in about 2-3 years ago and it hasn't done much work :D :D :D . My initial thoughts were, get it regoed....before the rego runs out (thats right its still regoed) Maybe springover (depending on diffuclty of making it steer well!!!) some chunky ass rubber, and maybe difflocks....what lockers would you guys run....I usually run CIG's in all the suzis i've owned

Cheers, Dano.

Oh, and its a shorty hardtop....so the barstards got a date with a "9 inch" (grinder that is!!!)

What size rubber do you think I can get under with SPOA.... 34 x 9.5 ???

Both the delta and the desel scat engens are the same the engine code is DG it is a 2.5 liter, the delta gear boxes are the same as the scat you just have to unbolt the hydrolic pump and bolt the transfer case on

Hope this helps

hay dano, rather than a springover,do a 2" body lift, cut the flares out by 2&1/2" (ie the factory flare line) pop on the truck rubber flares to cover F100 rims with 33" mud tyres.. this way you are keeping the main weight down low
as SCATS get tired & lay down easly.. PIGLET.. ps you lucky bastard, wish someone would give me a scat, Ill give you 2 cartons for it

Geez Lads, 5 cartons!!! It must be worth keeping. Thanks for the heads up piglet, this sounds like the way to go. Will revive this thread with some pics when the little rig comes my way. Cheers for the replies.

Dano.

P.S. Hows the stock gearing for 33's - especially in low range?

Cheers

Just for info K&S Tuning do a Rocky locker but given the value of the car ( no insult intended ) the $3000+ required to get it done probably makes it academic.

P.S. - wish someone would give me a Scat, Rocky or Feroza :D
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Thanks anyway Mighty, and no offense taken...That sort of money would be all my suspension and rubber easily. Thanks for the replies lads-re gearing, i'm just used to driving zooks, gutless at the best of times and way under geared....but still fun!

Cheers, Dano.

Dano,
Thanks, just started stripping it back to check the condition of the bodywork and the chassis and it looks pretty reasonable so far considering the normal state of these in the UK. Got the engine running properly last weekend as well.

It came out the factory as a petrol but after that engine died it was converted to diesel. Still has the petrol diffs under it though so the gearing is real low, hopefully it will end up with some 35" or there about tyres. Already got some wide wheels with big offset to go onto it.

nice offset
I thought so, they are 5 spoke alloys off a Suzuki Vitara wideboy. I don't know how they will stand up to abuse but they where cheap so I will see how they go.

That was the theory I was working on. A friend of mine has gone in the other direction with a set of Landcruiser steels with weld on beadlocks. Once he has got the tyres on a single wheel/tyre combination weighs somewhere in the region of 70-80kg :!:
