BENT VALVES woo hoo :)

Post by lexplay »

the other night while giving the g13a shit the timing belt slipt a few teeth and has bent the valves. all good i been waiting for it to brake so i can put a injected motor in, iv decided on the g13b gti motor only cause i got one cheap. iv tried to search but every time someone starts to say thier going to do this conversion someone changes the subject but as far as iv work out the engine mounts, flywheel, gearbox bolts straight on/in. i know the dizzy is a problem but im going to try and chop and weld the g13a dizzy with the g13b dizzy to try get a side mount. besides form this any one know of much else that needs to be done? . thanks

you can't cut and shut the dizzy, that i can imagine. the 13a has a dizzy drive gear hanging out the back of the head. the 13d has a flat drive recessed in side the Head. you would have to make an angle drive or buy one that is proven to work.

yea i dont didnt think they were interference engines either, its prob not i just put the belt back to where it should be started it and it ran like the biggest piece of shit and had a tapping noise, ill compresion test it tonight.

as for the dizzy i know what your talking about mr green. my uncle has been chopping and modding dizzy longer than i been alive so i thought ill give him a go and if good comes of it ill let you know if not guess ill have to buy another dizzy and go one of the other options.

as for the fuel pump i allready have a electric lift pump (use to be the only pump) on it then just going to put another vl one up front for the injected motor.

this is just what i got planned in my head, all of your guys comments are more than welcome, keep them comin.

talk to Brian at suzistore - 9250 4650 - he makes a lot of adapter kits for different engines. Tell him "aron" sent you.

maybe it was my computer. all the links seem to be working now and it is a awsome site.

after thinking about my old motor i went home and chucked some new plugs in, done the timing again and it runs just like it use to so you are all write they are not a fouling engine. im still going to do the conversion just going to wait till after anzac day cause we got a camping trip planned. gives me more time to collect some parts im missing any way.

i got some gti seats as well ill chuck those in in the mean time.
