MD have closed down. Axles are still available from HYTUFF engineering, but not lockers/centres. MR automotive may start making them again though.
I think Sals lockers were around 1700 and rover 2000ish+ (depends on model and front/rear).
The best value option these days is probably an ARB or detroit rear, trutrack front, with HYTUFF or Rovertracks axles. (McNamara axles and lockers are also an option).

Found the following on the LR4X4 forum.
All is not lost as you will read. Maxi Drive lives on!!!
Barry Ward, who worked for Mal at Maxi Drive making the axles has stated a business producing the identical axles and drive flanges using the same Hy-Tuff material with the same heat treatment and finish.
He is trading as Hi Tough Engineering.

Mal couldn't find a buyer/deal he was happy with apparently (too little $$$ / buyers without tech. skills / buyers who wanted him to hold their hand for years afterwards)... ...so he closed the business down instead.ranover wrote:are you kidding MAXI DRIVE has shut down
so does that mean no more maxi drive again. i should of bought it from him when he offered the shop.
Barry (2IC - or 3IC after Paula?) has started his own business making axles and drive flanges ONLY. Word has it that MR Automotive are making the low range gears, and a few other bits, and MAY be in negotiations for lockers?
The TJM Prolocker is a Jacmac locker (made under licence?). Unlikely that a rover version will become available - but can buy it from JM now.waxen wrote:Go for Hytuff 24 spline axles & ARB Locker or wait until TJM's pro locker for Rover's appears.
