Looking for some help with regards to a new or higher ampage alternator for my 62 series, what's out there?
Running 2 sets of spotties, 1 set of fog's, stereo (2x amps), alarm and immobilser, and later fitting a fridge.
At the moment, I think the stock one is struggling with the demand, but not sure... sometimes I have had to whack the battery on charge overnight just to be sure... start car, it will sit below 12amps for a while, then slowly gets above (just)

Are you running and external or internally regulater alternator?
I believe the externally regulated unit is approx 55 amps, however the internally regulated unit is 85 amps.
pretty easy to swap over, I did my 60 series and just used the plugs from a 75 series.
Before spending big dollars, i would look at the condition of the brushes, if they are worn the unit may not be charging to its full potential.
If you have to get a new alternator, shop around, I got mine via an auto elect mate for $240..00 brand new. watch out for units that have slightly different vaccum pump fittings.
