No bad side really, except the extra plumbing and cost, and the fact that it could possibly get a leak/puncture (and a small bit of pressure drop, and a bit more lag). If you're a fairly well organised person, you'll carry enough spares to bypass the intercooler and get you out of the shit if it ever happens.
Intercoolers are fully sic bro.

im doing the same to mine when you say gas research you will need the throttle body and adapter you can buy from the for about 130 to bolt straight onto your manifold and a better gas converter such as the B2 Converter and you should intercool it and the BOV. gotta make the ppshhh sound. I'v been advised to run about 8psi and not more than 12 on a standard motor, so ima run 8 constant, im mounting the cooler on the front gonna make room for it.
yeh i have everything sorted just gotta mount dual gas tanks in it and do it properly so i can get the goverment rebate for the gas as my car is registered as a diesel, yeh i have been told 8 psi for the standard engine also, the gas research is all getting done and fitted by smithys in bayswater and thats with everything i will need for the turbo to run at its best, i dont want the bov i would rather just the intercooler fluter i think it sounds heaps better lol..and i was gonna run the cooler in the front also, still tossing up with the idea as i have pulled my car apart for paint and to make a tube tray so thinking of a rear mounted radiator, not to sure yet still tossing up with a few ideas
2nded, do not ever underbudget on a turbo, as it will be half assed and end up costing twice as much in the long run, i want to do mine within the next year and a half and i think i will need approx 5g to purchase all the parts i need, then another 2g for tuning etc and then 1g spare for problems along the way
Maverick. Unlocked on 35's MOTTO: Lock, Stomp & Hold on
i agree cookie monster. your airbox could be between 500-900

a turbo tb42 with an intercooler will take 12 to 15 psi no worries as long as the tune is spot on, bigger valve springs and it has a good ignition
will need a second gas converter as well as high flowing the tank
the tune is the most important thing if u want it to last, i know Jole at PGS is very good with gas reserch, there is quite a art to it.

gq wagon now a gq ute, straight gas tb42 with a thing on the side that makes it go fast
