Post by zook4fun »

i'm looking for a post about a sierra t/case getting locked in gear and can't find the post.

Mine has locked in gear, i would to know if i can just pull the front housing off and clean up( my shifter bush has fallen apart and i think thats what has jammed it) the selectors while in the car, Put it back together or i have to pull it out and strip it right down.

Shifter bush. You can swap it with the transfer in place, you just have to pull out the lever.

the transfer takes like 20 mins tops to take out of car, will make for a much more pleasant job to fix with out looking up and getting dirt all thru it... just a thought

For real, I reckon leave it in hey... But I had to do it out on a trip when the bush fell to pieces on me and i kept getting jammed in neutral.

You pull the boots back over transfer stick, two screw drivers crossed over push and twist and it pops out. then push in your new bush and push it back in push and twist again.

just waiting for the bush to show up.

had no problems with getting the stick out, just can't get it back in gear no matter what i do.I'll try to get it back in gear again when i have the bush.

had the bolt that the gear box shifter pivots on snap in half last week as well. went to supercrap got a pack of bolts to fit the thred and ground the end round to fit. now have a spare in the car and works great

When you look down the hole that you have pulled the stick out of you will see two rods with a slot in them, one will be sitting either forwards or back of the other. Stick a Flat head screw driver in there and lever one of them to equal the other then put the stick back in. Other wise you wont be able to use the shifter to get them back in gear.
