Feroza and rocky parts and mods
Is it easy to get feroza and rocky parts? Are they as cheap as suzi parts?Thansk
From a Feroza point of view....
Engine - easy and cheap as long as you source Applause parts. Some Applauses used the same engine and as there are lots around parts are plentiful and cheap. In this case the Feroza wins over a zook.
Engine Modification - cams, extractors etc are available and are no more expensive than zook
Wheels/Tyres - no problems there as the bolt pattern is the same as zook
General suspension - shocks/bushes etc etc are readily available from the aftermarket, although genuine parts are a bit pricey IMO.
Transmission - expensive like most, but made more difficult as there aren't heaps of second hand ones around like zooks. Diffs, CV's etc etc don't seem to be a problem
Panels etc - much rarer then zook so harder to get....
Serious Modifications - very limited range available. A rear locker will set you back over $3K unfitted for example and EVERYTHING else is custom which can be expensive. As there is very little demand no "serious" parts are likely to be available.

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

After owning the XL-7 for a few months I'd have to say there is a lot more Suzi parts around. Just do a search on Ebay for example and see how many items pop up for each model.
Prices are probably similar. I think my genuine XL-7 air filter was $55 and an aftermarket Feroza filter was dearer (but is a more complex design.)
Suzi's have a lot more choices for aftermarket or secondhand parts and seem to be plentiful at wreckers.
Even Applauses were a fairly rare vehicle and wouldn't be all that plentiful in wreckers in comparison.

Must be an Adelaide thing...... My favorite self serve wrecker usually has around four in stock and there doesn't seem to be a shortage generally in Melbourne.murcod wrote:Even Applauses were a fairly rare vehicle and wouldn't be all that plentiful in wreckers in comparison.
The specialist Daihatsu wreckers also have plenty of bits but tend to be dearer and I can't wander around "window shopping".
