ok the time has come to do some major surgery on the old paj. shes a NG '90 3L V6. done 242***k's and needs some tlc, the syncro gears have destroyed them self and the engine is old and tired. ive recieved a quote for 3800 for a new long engine including radiator flush, new hoses, new belts and new water pump, seem fair? now is the tricky part, do i recon my old gear box or buy a second hand from wreckers or what? what is my best choice? btw if anyone from WA can give specific companies it would be tops, but would also be interested in eastern state proposals
cheers all
Cameron

Hi
Secondhand gearboxs would probable be not any better that the one you have as they have a life of around 250 000 to 300 000kms and considering the age, most gearboxs that you get from the wreckers would have this amount to kms on them. You should beable to pick up a reco gearbox from between $1500 to $2000 exchange or simply send yours in to get recod for around the $1500 mark.
