Hi,
Tried looking for similar experiences. Does anyone know what caused this ?
Today I was at the lights and as soon as I hit the accelerator there was an almighty bang in the rear - I thought I was going to meet my maker. drove home alright though without anything further ado. Well treated GLX petrol 4500 - no off road - only 140K.

Yes, regulary serviced. Quality cooler. Not much towing. Also Petrol only. - sounded and felt mechanical - thinking LSD or the backlash to end all backlashes ? I was on a slight upward incline and must admit I put the foot down immediately. dunno if this has any bearing but it was roadworthied last week and the hand brake was adjusted ?Oneputt wrote:Auto trans?
Thanks you have me thinking better now. Come to think of it more I have heard a very small sort of clunk a couple of times in the rear in the last few months. I'll try and check it out tomorrow night.whiteknight wrote:My hilux used to do that sometimes iin the mornings, it was the handbrake shoes would stick and upon moving would release with a bang.
A mates cruiser also had a thud now and again from teh back and it ended up being a loose baffle in the fuel tank.
