to shock boot on not to shock boot

Post by spamwell »

they seem to just be storing mud which to me would just be detrimental to keeping them all good condition and shiat.

Why not sheild them?

It keeps stones and the like off the shaft, but can't hold mud or water in.

Leave them off......I used to just run them without a zip tie, so they could easily be cleaned out when washing the truck. Which worked for a while, but eventually the boot rubbing up and down on the shock body caused all the paint to come off around there and start rusting.

Got rid of the boots all together and never looked back and done the same with any new shocks since.

what he said. you need something to protect the shaft from getting chipped with stones which will then cut the seals n shiz otherwise they leak and are farkt.

My koni's have either steel shields (front twin tube) or plastic shields (rear gas/hydraulic).

The fronts are shielded by the shock turrets anyway, but there's no way I'd run the rears without a shield.
