probably depends on what events you are planning on doing... but most ppl tend to stick with between 40 to 50 metres.... either steel or plasma, :)

We have just sold a heap of Superline XD to competitors for the Outback, Cliffhanger etc, 3/8" x 200ft, which is about 60 metres, rated to 26500lbs.

Depends if the drum is standard or widened, standard will hold 50m x 11mm widened about 70m x 11mm.

Also remember not to fill the drum right up! Even if the cable fits on all good when its wound on nice and neat, it may bind up after winching in a comp if it bunches up to one side. Need to alow a bit of room for that.
Its not a bundy!

Winch rope

Post by XTREME MMM »

:D :D :D

I have been selling a lot of the first rope introduced into Australia a good few years ago:- Plasma 12 Strand.

The common size is 11mm of which you will get around the 60 meters on a 100mm wider drum, but as a lot more competitors are going to the 12 mm Plasma 12 Strand you will only get 40 meters safely on the wider drum. Standard drum you will just get on 30 meters of 12 mm, this I feel is a touch too much in my opinion.

Hope that is of some help to you.

Cheers
