Gear shifting problems - Suzuki Sierra

I own a 1997 suzuki sierra
I have owned the car since new, it has not had any modifications and has not had any major mechanical repairs.
Recently, on several occasions (3 or 4 times) I have had trouble getting the gear stick into 1st gear (and sometimes others) when stopped in traffic.
I have also noticed whilst driving the gears dont change as smooth as they usually do and I am required to apply more force to the gear lever to get into the next gear. I have tried double clutching and it does not help at all.

The clutch engages and disengages as normal, the clutch does not slip and the gears do not grind.

I have had all the oils topped up including the transmission and have had the clutch adjusted by a mechanic.

I have taken the car to 2 mechanics, which have driven the car but have not experienced the transmission locking up at takeoff.
They were of little help
Could anyone who’s had a similar problem or knows what my problem is please help me?

its the bush and or bolt where your shifter slips into the box. they are wearing out so the shifter isn't putting pressure on the right spot to change gear.

takes about 20 min to fix, just order the bits and give it a go.

Zook4fun what do you mean when you say bush or Bolt...? Mainly the Bolt I know what the bush is and Im looking at ordering it how does the bolt affect the shift pattern or how hard it is to shift....?

Its the pivot point for the lever, and as they wear (or even break) its harder to shift, and if it is completly broken/ worn, the lever will turn around and around.....

what mike said. if you go down to super cheap and get a a bolt that the thread fits and is long enough. grind the end round and small enough to fit in the shifter. works fine, you end up with a high tensile bolt and spares if you ever need 1 for less money
