22R - What oil does it use? - N00b question

Post by hellfire »

I've only had the Hilux with 22R for about 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for my workshop manual to come in the mail.

So far my Lux hasn't burnt or leaked any oil, but I wanna see if it needs a top up..

What sort of oil does it use?

Just a good quality 15w-40 will be fine, if it has high kms then go a 20w-50.

depends on how its been looked after. some would be stuffed by then others would be ok.

check your compression its a good indicator. the other is just how well it runs.

anyone got stats on what the compression should be? if not when your book arrives it will tell you.

I had a 2.2 with 270ks on it and it ran really well, the motors are pretty tough as long as they get their tlc of oil etc
