Do 15" rims fit GU? Will 35's fit GU?

Had a quick look in the bible, but there is no section on tyre fitment.

Stock height GU, with Flares and Mudflaps, will 35" tyres fit, with or without a little rubbing, but no damage?

Will 15" rims fit over the brakes? Alloys or Steel.

What lift to fit 37's? I am guessing it would be less than my GQ, with 3" susp, and 2" BL.

More details would help.

Cab chassis? Wagon? Engine size?

Not 100% sure but I reckon there'd definately be rubbing with 35s' on a stock GU. Not all 35s are 35s

. 35 M/T Claws are a smaller tyre than say 35 pedes & there'd be a few others aswell I'm guessing.

As for 15s', I'm pretty sure they'll fit all pre 04 model GU's except the 4.8litre petrol model as they have larger rotors but I could stand correceted

I run 15" steel rims off-road on my 92 GQ Ti with the twin piston brake update. Not sure if the GU's brakes are different again

I find it hard to beleive if you could run 35's on stock setup without doing damage off-road.

37's on a 3"+2" GQ

WTF, obviously no off-road work

crushu 2" lift required to fit 35's to your gu, and as far as 37's go i think a 4" lift is all that is needed from memory

You'd probably want some after market radius drop arms on it too to push the front diff forward as I'd nearly guarantee they'd rub on the guards & I'm with GQ Bear....37s' on a GQ with 3'+2'....WTF!!!

You'll need a body lift or extended bump stops if you want to run 37's & use them off road, does'nt matter if you've got a 2inch or 8 inch suspension lift. Or get out the grinder.

15" rims will fit on a GU series I, II and III but not a series IV.

The GU brakes are bigger than GQ2 brakes.

I ran 36" Swampers with only a little fender trimming, so I imagine the 37's won't need much more. At full flex the 36's rub on the inside rear panels, and didn't on the front. I don't know why guys want to lift their trucks up so high, when it isn't needed (except for my F truck, but that is different)

my old man is running 35s on his 4.2 turbo diesel patrol. They are 35x12.5 bfg all terrains on 15inch rims. His only got a 2inch lift and they did hit on the front mud flap. Got rid of that and no scrubbing at all. If he was to really flex it up, it would hit the rear on the inner guard but thats it. Pretty sure they on toyota offset as they are a bees dick sticking out the side of the flares. I heard if you run a radius arm spacer, you can run 35s on standard suspension. Hope this helps

fellow in me 4wd club threw his 35's off his old truck onto his gu for one trip before he lifted it.
it scrubbed on the front mud flaps and in the rear arches under flex. he left the sway bars in tho so it would prob scrub more with them out

i had 35s on my GU before i lifted it but only for a day.
for driving on road it would be fine, but offroad forget it.
the 15s fit without a problem

they only fit if you massage the caliper with a grinder.

I have an 98 GU and 15s fit and I have a 2" and have trial fitted 35s and they fitted although I run 33s

Hi Crushu,

I have a 2000 4.2 GU with 36" centipedes on 16's. I did try some on 15's and they did fit. Went for a drive around the block and they didn't foul the brakes at all, but i wonder how they would go with mud etc. in and around them. There wasn't alot of room.
With the 16's (ROH Trak 2? / 25mm offset from std?), a 3" lift and extending the bump stops (40mm from memory) i still get scrubbing on the front mudflap and inside wall of the rear guard. The main reason i extended the bumpstops is because i fitted a 4" shock with a 3" spring and didn't want the shocks to top out.
The only addition i would make to this is a radius arm spacer or different arms to stop the scrubbing in the front. This scrubbing has done no damage, just noise, after plenty of on & off roading.
The scrubbing in the front is affected by the offset of the rim as well. A mate has different rims (Patrol std. steelies / same tyres) and his doesn't scrub the mudflap but does get the radius arms when turning which mine hardly touches. This can be adjusted out but limits your turning circle in doing so.

Hey mate my brother runs 35s on a 2" lift with the front diff moved foward about 15mm its on a 02 4.2d does scrub a little but not much..

i fitted 37" tyres under my shorty patrol with 2" suspension lift and 2" body lift. it can be done, but obviously you need to trim the guards a little
