Vitara Brakes on 1L

Test drove a 1L hardtop with a 1.6 MPFI today and the seller claimed he put Vitara brakes on the front as well, but it has issues pulling up?

Do vitara brakes fit 1L diffs?

Did he stuff the install or does it need a booster?

And is a remote booster my only option with the 1.6 manifold hard up against the existing resivior and master cylinder?

I am going to have another look at the car once it has been cleaned, are the vit brakes that much bigger and noticable?

I have searched but have not found the right answer.

if it doesn,t have a booster and they are vit discs and calipers then yes you will have to stomp on the pedal. The vit booster isn,t very big but it all helps.

don,t know about the disc being much bigger but if its got 5 door discs they will be ventilated.

The vit disc is the same size in diameter but is ventilated, calipers are a little bigger. 1L and 1.3L are the same disc's and calipers if my memory serves me correct.

solid vit discs are same as sierra ones afaik and vented ones are fatter bit same size overall.

calipers are as above, a bit bigger overall.

Sierra front 1L, 1.3L and 3 door Vitara brakes are all the same and no benefit to swapping between these. The only (bolt on) upgrade is the Vitara 5 door with the ventilated discs and slightly larger caliper. I had exactly this on my 1L (so yes they do fit) before going to widetrack 1.3L diffs and they do make a difference. I also run a remote booster to the front brakes which helps with pedal feel and effort.

I believe it is known as a VH41 remote brake booster. This is plumbed inline to the front brakes. I mounted it on the L/H side of the firewall (relocated charcoal canister) and ran the lines across the firewall. Plumb it into vacuum and it improves the brake pedal dramatically.
