Body Lift Done!

Post by Ferwoaza »

Whew..what a day :) 200km drive each way and 2" higher as the result hehe.

Still have to lift the barwork, but not majorly fussed, will be done in the next few weeks.

Couple of quick snaps taken during the day, will do a full write up of how to, issues etc by end of next week.

I see you didn't leave the end caps on your rear bar. They will stay on using the top bolt and only fall off when full of mud....otherwise they stay put :!:

Put 'em on 'cause it looks better with them on. I can't foresee you doing ANY sort of offroading in mud....unless it rains on the ashes from the bushfires....them it's not real mud...just black sh1t

What did you do about your transfer shifter length :?: ..Looks good :!: I have to wait till I get some more power under the hood before I can add some bigger treads, the 1.3 FI just don't have what it takes.

Rear corners will be going back on in a few days, getting a little custom bracket made up to make up for the difference.

I had to do nothing with the shifters!!! They all still work, the transfer one is a bit tight but does move okay with no touching. Over all lift would be 2.5" suspension, 2" Body and probably 3" from tyres so 7.5" lift overall...pretty good! Wheels at the front are under the guards but the rears stick out about 1 inch, bit of rubber on the arch should fix that for Mr Plod.

To do : lift barwork, longer bolts for the two rears. Just couldn't use the middle bolts were just a tad too short to use with the sleeve, so they are in there without the sleeve (plenty of washers) at the moment. Mate ran it like this for years with no prob but I will fix up for engineering. Will also extend the rear break lines for engineering, currently detached from the axle bracket, may as well do this in prep for drop shackles anyway :) Need to extend the vaccuum hoses under the hood and finally put some paint on a couple of spots where we redrilled for the radiator drop and busted off the two front nuts.

Looks darn good - wished I'd done that to my old Feroza...
Anyways, not wanting to rain on your parade or anything, but 3" from tyres? Are you sure you aren't confusing diameter of tyres to radius? I gained 3" of tyre lift on my TJ when I moved from 29" to 35"....

Actually, your right  Always make that mistake...

Stock is 225, which is what...around 27"? Now running 31"...4" overall increase in diameter, equates to 2" lift over all, so total 6.5" lift all up..

Think I got my sums right now :)

I'll put some up tonight Ruff, they are all at home. My brother in law should be at home too, he has a Feroza with just 2" lift on 215s. Will park it next to that and take a snapshot :)

Hmm..these pics aint great, but both are taken from the same eye level height. Will try and get a shot next to a stocker...also note that in the original photo (the day I got the car) it already had a 2.5" suspension lift and is running 225 roadies...so it would be even smaller in stock form!

Shiat yeah thats what i wanted to see. I bet the guy that owned the stocker if he had seen you would have been shocked

With the bars lifted to suit it would look even bigger.

Yes i must say you have impressed me now get it out there and show us some pics of it getin it not just posing

I wanna find a stockie that I can park next to for comparison :(

I don't usually see too many of them and have a camera ready to take some pics at the same time :(

Would love to :D But I find it difficult to leave the missus and child for a week :(

Besides....the missus doesn't 'trust' the car as far as she could throw it

Something about - taken it out twice.....ended up back at the workshop twice  But now fixed !!
