found an old highmount model 8270 , has no freespool lever is the only difference i can see to the 8274, have heard that some of the earlier ones had different gearing, anyone know anything about this model
any info would be great
its a highmount, no motor, no controll pack, 25+ yrs old, no on the dash in out lever looks to be the same as 8724 just has no manual freespool lever on top hat
imo everything is almost identical in the high mounts, bugger all has changed over 30 or so years from when i was tracking parts for my 8274, which makes servicing any high mount a piece of piss
Maverick. Unlocked on 35's MOTTO: Lock, Stomp & Hold on
Those I have seen had a keyway in the gear and motor shaft. I can't remember for sure what stopped the gear from sliding off - may have been a circlip, or a spring pin.
A normal motor will fit with the splined gear. But you need something to keep the gear in mesh and not slide to the free spool position.
