what shocks to match what leaves?

Post by islandvitara »

guys i swear to god i read the bible on all the suspension kit topics, was interesting but didnt find my answer, search was way to huge..

i want to set my sierra up with good flex i was reading the topic of RUF so i think i will go with that setup but as for which shocks what ones do you guys/gals recommend for flex??

should i buy a new leaf kit and do RUF or will the stock leaves do the job??

and what shocks should i be using to get good flex? i was thinking of ranchos all-round :)

if yas could post what combinations (leaves & shocks) some of yas use that'd be great :D

cheers, islandvit

adjustable ranchos are sweet as you can tune them for off or on road situations.

go 2 inch ome rear leaf pack on back diff and standard rear leaves on the front diff. this will keep the height the same. once you are setup, ramp it up and measure the distance between shock mounting points and using your existing research go find a shock that has suitable extension and compression. you will defintely need to increase the bumpstops and possibly extend shock mounts...

good luck :D

yea they where the shocks i had in mind, but in regards to the ome leaf pack in the rear and standard rear up front, my standard leaves are almost flat!!

so i was thinking that that setup wouldnt keep the vehicle level???

wat do u mean though?

re-read the old stuff you've found...pretty much a longer leave over a shorter mount will increase the arch...give it a go see what happens!
