Better Seats!
Better Seats!
Ok everyone ive had enough of the crapness of the standard zook seats and need to see what people have fitted to their rigs, post up some pics and any mods you had to do to the rails etc to make them fit - am looking for something with cloth trim as its more comfortable and that you can spend the day in wheeling without feeling shit when you get home!!

Very firm, you might even say hard.. Like a park bench actually ..
So not brilliant for L O N G highway trips but neither is a Zook (Especially mine.. 50km is about as far as it EVER goes on bitumen in one hit.)
I made my rails from 6mm flat bar like Want33s in my old zook. I used Honda CRX seats which I was very happy with. So happy, I pulled them out of that zook before I sold it so I can put them in the LWB.

Nice, I must find out what hoops i have to jump through for new seats in WA. Prolly won't go for racing buckets but a nice set of fully adjustable buckets from a sedan would be nice. Subaru liberty seats are V. comfy but don't know about fit.
Was thinking of going to DIY wreaker with the seat dimensions and walk around the yard trying before i buy
I did Perth to kalbarri with a collapsed seat, new stiff OME suspension and a wild cross wind at easter. FUN FUN FUNwant33s wrote:So not brilliant for L O N G highway trips but neither is a Zook (Especially mine.. 50km is about as far as it EVER goes on bitumen in one hit.)
re: Seats
Here's mine Autotechnica Monza's
Unlike Want33's I removed the drivers seat rails to lower the seats to
match heights and keep weight low! as with want33's I used 6mm plate
but I ran 2 on top inline so seat wouldn't bunch up carpet then ran 2 from side to side underneath sorry no more pics tonight to dark n wet outside!
[/img]
Arrow shows third mount I removed!
SORRY FOR USING YOUR PIC WANT33'S BUT SHOWS RAILS BETTER!

Suzuki Sierra: half the size, half the weight, half the cost & twice the fun  why would you drive anything else?

I set them up so that were more or less the same height as the OE seats (about an inch higher IIRC). I think I'll raise them a bit when I remount them in the LWB though for better over bonnett visibility.PCRman wrote:are they as tall/taller than the stock seat?v840 wrote:I used Honda CRX seats which I was very happy with. seats look good so far keem them coming!!! im probably leaning towards a set of seats from a sedan or small car that are comfy as i dont like the idea of buckets digging into my legs on long trips - i did 280km of driving on sat from bris to LCMP, wheeling all day then home again and my seats threw me around all day!!!
wreckers idea sounds good so i can hunt around and see whats comfortable!! going to try pick up the newest ones i can from a late model car that are bolstered etc like buckets but not specifically aftermarket type bucket seats
ie i like the seats in my ss they keep my ass in place but something similar for the zook

Just remember that zook seats are very narrow and you may find that you cant fit the seats you just bought. Work out the maximum aloowable width of the seats before you go shopping.

only thing i know of is they take a smaller diameter bolt (making it abit grey if its allowed to be approved or not ?) and need custom brackets like the rest

i've got some no-name brand seats in mine that run on the original tracks... they look very similar to BOGFROGs Monza seats. i got them from "Regan" - used to have a white coily(?) and was in the fire brigade - he rolled his zuk and swapped the seats back over before handing it over for insurance... i snatched the seats up for $200ea (he paid $350ea from memory).
Build thread thingo below has pics where you can kind of see them - theyre vinyl and VERY firm... but MILES better than stock. They really hold you in. Long drives theyre not bad at all, probably better than the seats in my mazda 323 i reckon, less of a sore back cos they hold you so well. The vinyl is sweaty in the heat, but then so were the stock seats, and its a zuk... you're gonna be sweating anyway =)

Not sure what they are my old man bought them off an ebay site, about $300 for the pair. they look comfier than they are but they aren't to bad, they are pretty good off road they hold you in place really well. we also had harnesses.mick85 wrote:Potter those seats look comfier and better than most buckets you see getting around - what are they? where abouts did you get them from?
