I change the oil at 5000 interval and new filter at 10,000 ( I know i should do the filter every 5000 so don't lecture me ). My 4m40 needs 5.5 litres for just sump. 6.5 for filter as well and another 1.3 for the oil cooler.
My question is: where is the oil cooler and how do I change the oil it?
It's a 2.8 non-turbo diesel.

I am going to lecture you.
If you can't change both oil and filter, rather change the filter every time and the oil every second time.
The 4m40 and 4m41 engines have a oil cooler in the engine block, but it should drain (albeit slowly) if the filter is removed.
Some models have a supplementary oil cooler in front next to radiator (follow the pipes).

shouldnt all (most) of the oil come out at once?
once you take off the drain plug on the sump it all should come out.
i didnt think there were seperate drain plugs for each
i just drain my oil when its hot and i get most of it out.

In other words if I wait long enough for it to drain then the extra 1.3 litres from the cooler will come out? So if the cooler drains as well then shouldn't I be adding another 1.3 l?

Where the oil cooler is on a Paj it should all run out....
Actually now thinking about it, It might not. Becasue otherwise it would all run out of the cooler into the sump when you turn the engine off. Thus putting over a litre extra into the sump and providing a false reading.

Just put oil in it, forget the cooler, warm it up, check the dipstick in the morning, add more if necessary. Thats what i was trying to say!

It's due for a 150,000 service and new injectors next week from Mitsubishi so I'll ask them.
Then again they might say go to hell because I do my own oil changes and not give them the chance to rip me off on the price they charge for workshop oil.
