mounting for rock sliders
hi all i just got some slider but need them mounted to my gq
is it better to weld them or bolt them on ?
and where can i get it done without brakeing my bank account ?
any help will be much appreciate .

hey mate its better to weld a plate to your chassi then bolt your sliders to them.type in on the search bit sliders and there are plenty of posts up there to help you if you are a do it yourself person.make sure if you say to some one il give you somthing to do it you get them to do it first because you will get burnt i did.......
As I understand it from speaking to my engineer about it is this: The chassis is designed to flex substantually during off road applications. By welding a stiff bar in the form of a rock slider to 2 >4 points on the chassis, you add a large amount of stiffness to that area. Doing so prevents the chassis from flexing in that area so the forcec look elese where.
This means they go to the next weakest point and that area may potentually not handle such a focused force and result in breakage. They do however allow you to weld mounting brackets for the sliders to bolt to as the bolts still allow for chassis flex. They do however prefer the sliders to be fastened via u bolt style fixings.

well from what i know there is no rust i dont go on sand or beaches if they last me 5 years i will be happy and what paint on the inside?bruiser wrote:I'll say it again as I never get a cmment back,

What hapens to the paint on the inside?
Are they going to fall off ten years down the track?
Probably depends on how much time you spend at the beach.

oh ok i gotcha yeah true that well i will go there tomorrow and see what they say . but thanks for all the info guyssteel wrote:I think what Bruiser meant is that when you weld to the chassis, the paint on the inside of the chassis rails may flake off with the heat and leave the area exposed to rusting.
