Group Buy - TD42 Turbo Manifolds - CHEAP
Group Buy - TD42 Turbo Manifolds - CHEAP
After much discussion and interest, we have decided to put up an EOI for a group buy of some turbo manifolds to suit the TD42.
The manifolds are DTS manifolds, with a T3 flange. Adapters can be had for under $50 to take it down to a T25 flange if thats your preference. You can pick these up from eBay, online performance shops, or any reputable performance/turbo workshop.
The setup is for a low-mount position for the turbo, which leaves the option open for a top mount intercooler down the track without any heat-soak issues.
The price of the actual manifold will be $360 inc. GST as a starting point, and could possibly be cheaper if we get the numbers. Thats already $140 off retail, and about $350 cheaper than i was quoted from another "supplier" last month.
The supplier also has access to great pricing on these turbos:
Garret GT2860RS Ball Bearing Turbo with 0.64 exhaust turbine housing
OR
Garret GT2860RS Ball Bearing Turbo with 0.82 exhaust turbine housing
Once we get a confirmed number on the manifolds, we'll then go through and see who's after a turbo as well, and confirm their prices.
Items will be getting shipped from SA, but the manifolds shouldn't be an issue to post/freight.
We haven't set a deadline yet, but will do so at the end of the week (as we understand some people might not have the $$$ at certain times of the month).
These manifolds are a quality unit, tried and tested. Dont miss out on this great opportunity!
Post up your username, and quantity if you're interested!!
Regards - Coxy

MTQ quoted me $395 when I walked in about 2 weeks ago, in Regency Park SA. Not sure if they are the same manifold/seller or not but they are lowmount manifolds with a T3 flange. Maybe you could use that as a bargaining tool. Put me down for a manifold if the price is right.

Just to clear it up, this group buy is for a turbo exhaust manifold, not an inlet manifold.Rampage wrote:does this manifold bolt up to existing standard turbo? as i have stock td42t with 3: dump and exhaust but a inlet manifold would help also aye?
cheers!
Thanks for all of the interest so far guys! They way things are going, we might put in a quantity to the supplier at the start of next week, come back with the new price, and then possibly make a deadline for numbers on friday 9th.
So far there is:
- GQ4.2 , nabstud , BooY , shw337 , Mousie , Ashleyhj74 , Coxy321
7 units in total. Keep 'em coming boys!

They will be distributed from SA, but havent worked out if we'll do a bulk drop to my place or something, then send out from there, or we might even get a price from australia post for direct posting. I've sent a Falcon manifold in the post before, so i cant see why a TD42 would be any heavier.
The lady that owns the local post office here is pretty flexible as far as "limits" on weight and size go too. Thats one benfit of living in a small town and knowing everybody.
The supplier said if i can get 10 units, he'll give me new pricing. I've been given a rough idea on turbo pricing too - and its pretty damn cheap. I'll advise once we've hit ten units.

Without sounding like a twat, this thread isn't really an "ask a question about turbos" thread, so please use search function, and research it all. There's a HUGE amount of info on selecting turbos for the TD42.GQ4.2 wrote:how do the GT2860's go on a TD42 , is anyone on here running these and how laggy are they (what revs do they start making boost??)
And cause i'm a nice guy:
You will have the choice of two exhaust housings as stated in the original post. From other peoples experience, the smaller housing will suit most weekend hacks, whereas the bigger of the two housings will better suit people who plan on doing pump mods/intercooling etc. They both start to produce boost around 1600RPM, the smaller starts to taper off a bit over 3000RPM, and the larger one closer to 4000RPM. The larger generally has lower EGT.
Turboglide sell the smaller one in their kits. See thread on making custom tubo re. turboglide kit.

For the people in SA/WA/NT (if there's any in NT), obviously we'll have to organise postage from the supplier otherwise as nabstud said, parts will be double handled, which will cost more and take longer to receive.
I'm pretty flex, and provided everybody realises that this is happening to help you guys and not make $$$, and that the organising/posting time is done off our own backs. As long as everbody is patient and understanding, this will happen. People will get their parts, and people WILL get a good price.

Having run a few "BULK BUYS", you will get 100's of YEA YEA YEA FUGGIN OATH people.
The only way to tell if these people are serious and to make it really happen is to go with 50% deposit to put your name down, or 100% if they are happy with that.
The price is $360, so round it off $200 deposit, then if the price is lower cause of numbers, then you will get a refund with the manifold when it arrives.
Its the only way to do it or for weeks you will have a 20 page thread and it will go nowhere.
Good work and good luck.
