TD42 engine mounts $160 per side!!!!

Post by jtraf »

Well finally have to replace the engine mounts as both sides have gone to god...

Ran up Nissan on Saturday to order them in and have been told that mounts have changes I need both mounts and a retaining mount for each side as they are different to what I currently have. This is what I was told after I gave my chassis number as reference.

The mounts are $116 and retaining part another $44 each as they are different to what is currently there....supposedly

Is this just another dollar grab and have the mounts changed at all????

Don't want to spend more than I really have to.

I got some off eBay about 5 weeks ago. $90 for a pair including post from memory. The only difference in the TD42 engine mounts is that some use 2 bolts to mount to the chassis, and some use 4 bolts.

I cant beleive how much difference (noise and ride) the new engine mounts made. Gearbox mounts are next for me.....

Nissan quoted me a bit under $100 per side for genuine units. No idea what the retaining part is that they told you about. Might be stored on the same shelf as the blinker fluid.....

I think the "91 model and I know the "92 model on have the 4 bolt engine mounts, these have a C section retainer that mounts from the block and goes inside the block mount and under the chassis mount.

The 4 bolt mounts will not let the motor come off the chassis, even iff the mounts break.

I have some in the shed I can email pics to someone who wants to put them up.
