straight gas range
straight gas range
just interested in going straight gas and was hoping some body could give me some info on gas useage out the bush with 35 inch tyres in a gq 4.2 lwb
I'm not answering your question, but JFYI, i'm not 100% keen on dedicated gas for bush trucks. The only reason is cause if you run out of gas, your stuffed.
My mate has a cruiser with a 350 chev in it, and its basically straight gas, but he has rigged up some plumbing so that if the sh!t hits the fan and he runs out of gas, he can hook up a 20L jerry can to run ULP.
Just something for you to concider.

was thinking the same thing myself in regards to range.....
Was thinking of flicking the impco convertor and putting a Gasresearch kit onto it....
Will be looking into it in the next couple of days and if I go this way will get a second lpg tank to replace the petrol tank under the belly for a little extra range.......
Make up a decanter hose and in case of running out get a swap an go and go again...

All depends on the motor (how good it is) the gas kit (impco Carby suck) and your driving style
on 35's with my old Mav, i could do around 400-450K's around town in the old manual, got over 500K's on the Freeway's with 35's but i didn't hammer it off the line, i just drive it normally, didn't expect to go fast, just maintain speed was enough.
I had a Sprint Gas system that had the Donut ring on the carby rater than the crappy impco hat that restricts air flow, causing some serious power loss and use of extra gas.

AA's for Quitters
I get 24l/100 in my 302 powered mav running 33's and 4.3's, 145 litres will get 600km round town and about 60-70 more for hwy onlg. However straight lpg can be a hastle. Fraiser Island has no gas and we were burning over 50l/100km on the sand, this forced us to make a second ferry trip to refill. $50 for the ferry and $0.89 per litre comes close to running duel fuel or diesel. That said straight lpg can make great power and is really simple, pretty much the most reliable fuel system once you learn how they work
hope this offers something
