Jimny Bodylift
Jimny Bodylift
Okay... I've done a 3" bodylift on a Series One and there were plenty of things that needed moving/changing/adding:
Steering spacer
Extended brake lines
Flip the fuse box
Move various hoses/air cond tubes etc down the body
Extend transfer lever
Cut farking great hole in the floor
Disconnect heaps of bits and pieces
...etc
I've been told a 2" doesn't need a steering block or the hole in the floor gouged out - just a spacer/extender on the transfer lever... doesn't sound right...
Has anyone on here done a 2incher on a Jimny yet?

DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender
You may need to cut a little from the back of the transfer hole. In low it may not go in 100% and will tend to pop of of gear. Front left brake hose . Maybe do a small spacer on the steering. It can pull / move the bearing on the shalf in the fire wall. Not sure if a two inch can be done on the studs. Not that I would ever go the as much as you can without extending the stud or capping it.

Yeah, when we did the bodylift on Stimpy (3") we were lucky enough to buy a second hand bar that already had extended mounts.
With the 3" we had to extend everything, but I was told you don't need to with only a 2"... trying to confirm what bits I need beforehand...
Just Cruizin... do you have blocks/sleeves made up yet or still in R&D stage? On that note - where's the best place to get longer brakelines?
I've worked out I will need a 1 1/2 to 2in steering spacer, 4in section of exhaust pipe plus two hose clamps to extend the fuel filler (breather is fine), 3 times extended brake lines (add 2" to top section of front left/2" to bottom and 2" everywhere else for suspension lift) 4 x brakeline bracket to lift bumpers (Tapper... may need your help on this as I can't remember how you did the X-90 ), space up the airbox 1" (for snorkel alignment) - 3" of extension tube for transfer lever (maybe), extend floor transfer cavity 2" back... plus blocks/bolts and sleeves (Just Cruizin is looking at doing a Jimny kit )

I've had a 2in body lift fitted to my 01 series 2 jimny for around 6 years now, the steering sharft I didn't use a spacer but over ime the sharft and pulled through its bearing support in the firewall by about 10mm so I guess I spacer of this size will work well.
Squik, all fillerlines can just be extended, LH fornt brake line, the elbow can be turned 90 degrees and modify the locating flats on it ( have a look you'll see what I mean) leave the airbox alone, unbolt the brake line splitter thingy on the chassis under the drivers floor, you will need to cut the transfer stick hole in the floor.
The long term problems has only been not using good quality bolts as rust and corrosion has prevented me from begin able to remove the bolts and blocks. from this the studs in the body behind the front seats is now spinning in the body.

Thanks mate... that helps.
I've enlisted the help of a mechanic friend who has lifted a Jimny before and I've grabbed a kit off JustCruizin'. May need to make up a metal spacer as a rubber one won't pass NSW engineering laws...
The guy who bought Stimpy is helping me out with measurements off Stimp's spacer block over the weekend... will come up with a 2" proto block. (Just Cruizin, will get two done and send one up for you) We are playing it safe and getting another set of brake hoses made up.
