Long Ranger Tank - No Breather and Exhaust Mods

Post by Hybrid »

I've just installed a 2nd hand long ranger tank (70L) to my SWB sierra. There is only 4 outlets on the tank, fuel line, fuel return, filler and filler neck vent,. There is no brether line for the expansion tank. First run in it tonight it built up a far bit of pressure as a result of heat from the exhaust.

How have others dealt with the lack of breather? A T-Piece from the filler vent?

Also can anyone tell me where the exhaust needs to be rerouted? I've temporaraly cut it down and rewelded the muffler further forward. Its currently dumping direct onto the back axle which I'd like to change. Does the pipe that comes with it route to the back of the car? Surely this is true to get approved.

Cheers,

John

Yeah that would be the ultimate but I wouldn't recognise one if I tripped over it. I hear sierra filler caps in general aren't that easy to come by. Anyone want to swap their vented cap for a sealed one?

however i didn't fit it up so not likely to be much more help... only longranger for em is a replacement however..

my exhaust runs to the passenger side and dumps just rear of the spring hanger, cat converter and muffler sit fairly well clear.

Yep, same tank as in Pinballs link. Its a replacement tank. Its 70L and takes up pretty much every bit of space you can think of between the chassis rails down to arround stock tank bottom height. It tucks up pretty good but its had a bit of loving in the past by the looks. Theres drag marks where the arse has been dragged on banks/rocks etc. The denting is only minor though. I'll try to get some pics in the next couple of weeks. I personally dont think they are worth while unless you can track down a second hand one. This one cost me $300.
