grinding/rattling noise

Post by reprise »

hey guys, im getting a wierd grinding/rattling noise in hi range 4wd in my 90 sierra. it happens in 3rd and 4th gear and now seems to be hitting 2nd. only in hi range. it only happens when i am not accelerating. as it only happens in 3rd and 4th gear i cant get underneath at the same time as the noise to try and isolate the problem. im assuming transfer case something maybe loose??

any ideas?

cheers

i had something like this a while back - turned out to be a busted engine mount vibrating at certain RPM's.
