Hey,
can a gas reserach throttle body be used on the factory LS1 manifold to run duel fuel, or will i have to change to a carby style manifold and throttle body and run gas only?
I know there are better injection systems out there for the ls1, but are all expensive.

I would have to agree, even though I have seen some injector issues with the injected systems and uneven injector flow. Prior to any vapour injection systems being available we used Gasresearch carbies at Gasresearch Performance. It was 5-6 years ago to LS1's and it required that a flash be done on the ECU also to delete annoying codes, also we added timing to restore some of the lost power due to one throttle body being too small for that size engine. There is more to be had in any vapour injection to an LS1 as the noise of LPG combustion tends to set off the knock sensors and retard timing, I fix this in software and they go harded and improve economy.

hmm ok, i guess i will look into the vapour injection, another question is do i need to use the control module that comes with the vapour injection kits, or could i just re-map the injector pulse width in the PCM to suit. (will be dedicated gas only)
Also can i use the existing gas tank an converter that is in my cruiser now, and just buy the injectors?
thanks

The vapour injection kits are generally designed to run duel fuel (can't comply with emmissions on start up cold due to LPG vaporization rate cold not controllable enough etc and run on petrol until warmed up). I'm not that up to date having gotten out of fitting quite a few years ago but the problem was that the LPG would freeze injectors and there were fuel metering issues.
This may have been rectified and perhaps someone is doing it.
In theory you are correct though as all the gas processor does is modify the injector duty cycle which can be done in the factory ECU. You may have some cold start and running issues to sort.
