HID hook up problems

Post by midi73 »

hello all you selectrical gurus. I have just fit up a pair of H4 Hi/lo HID lights. This is in a 73 serties landcruiser. Now I know that these cars are negative switching, and can be a bitch to sort out when rewiring etc.
Now the problem, This kit has a plug to plug into the headlight, so I havent changed anything in the wiring on the car. What is happening is, when I put the lights on high beam the HIDs work on low bean, but when I put the lights on low beam, they dont work at all. What do I need to change to rectify this?
Cheers.

Thanks for all your replys  I have solved the problem. It was a broken low beam wire. I managed to dislodge it when I was fitting up the HID.

Yes. But I had already wired in relays for my high beam previously. To fix the high beam problem with that setup, I ran a wire from the second out pin on the 5 pin relay up to the dash. I cut the high beam wire to the dash and spliced the new wire into it. I taped the other wire out of the road. So I dont know what would have happened if it was normal set up.
Cheers.
