2L swap camshaft and rockers?

Post by tojo_runner »

I have a 2L motor which i think is either 1982 or 1983 which has cam followers and a front gernal (sp?) which leaks oil when its idling, and also a 1987 2L motor which has a good camshaft and roller rockers.
What i want to know is can I put my roller rockers and the cam from the newer motor straight into the older motor without any dramas?
I know ill have to change the pulleys and get a new timing belt, ive got that part sorted.

No you can't as the Cyl heads are different.

2 mechanics have told me no worries it used to be a really common thing to do that a 2L motor is a 2L motor.....

You can change the entire Cyl head no worries but im allmost 100% certain that you can not just change the rocker gear and cam.

As far as im aware the cam and rockers physicaly will not fit. But i could be wrong. If 2 seperate Mechanics are telling you it can be done then there is a good chance i am wrong.
