new Warn winch

Post by MJP »

Hi All,

Just looking into getting a winch for the GU and have been told about a new Warn XDC9500. Does anyone on here have one, and how does it fit and how does it go lugging the GU?
Would love to get the XP9500 with the 6hp motor but am getting told it won't fit my factory bar.
Does anyone here have the XP9500 in a factory Nissan bar?
I know a mate fitted an M10000 to his bar but it took a bit of "fiddling".

Any thoughts on how the XD9000 goes lugging a GU?

Thanks,
Mark

XDC9500 is same size as a xd9000 but obviously pulls a touch harder, also has inbuilt thermo cutout so you cant overheat it. Certainly worth a good look as its only a touch dearer than the xd9000.

I wouldn't bother trying to shoehorn a XP9.5 into a factory bar - its way too long.and you'll be doing a lot of cutting and grinding to do it. Full measurements are on the warn site if you decide to measure it up though.

Pretty sure it comes with the little light on the hand controller too

Thanks Guys.

Doesn't anyone have the XP9.5? As i said this is the one i would prefer but would like peoples feedback if anyone out there has one of them.

Do they pull that much harder than the 9000? Is it worth the $$?

Mark.

Update.

Went ahead and bought the XP and installed it yesterday. Took a bit of fiddling to get it right. Had to cut off the mount and move it 30mm to make the winch fit but it's all in and working. Have taken some photos which i will try to post up here when i get a chance if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
Mark

Definately would be interested to see your setup.
I'm looking at the XP9.5 but my factory bar is different to other factory bars i've seen around.
It's on a GU 6 so they may have changed things.

Offset it 25mm and it fits.

Plenty of customers in my previous life did this.

ATS4x4dotcom had one on his GU

Sorry still need to get the pics off my mate.

If RoldIT reads this perhaps he could post them instead ;) He also did the same thing but with a 10,000 pounder.

I bought one on the weekend and put it into a GQ ARB deluxe winch bar and it was a straight forward bolt in.

The only issue I had was the controller box must be a different design to the M series winches as the mounting bracket that came with the winch install kit I bought a couple of years ago which mounts the controller over the top of the winch did not fit with the newer design controller box.

Does anyone know if ARB have an off the shelf bracket to suit or would it be best to get one made up somewhere?

You just have to get something knocked up somewhere. There is nothing off the shelf.

I've broken 2 Warns - both knocked back on warranty, so now I'm using a $500 ebay chinese job and it works like a dream.

Not convinced the extra $$ buys you anything but a W sticker...
