Locker for 40 series

Post by DIRTY ROCK STAR »

a common question which locker???

which locker does everyone recommend for a sprung over 40 series? and front or back??

its a question of more $ for ARB air locker? or cheaper lock rite and run risk of losing it on a roundabout i guess???

what does everyone think? and has anyone had problems with the constant lockers spinning them on a roundabout etc???

help would be much appreciated?

Hypolux has given me some good ideas but a 2nd opinion and 3rd 4th opinions never hurt??

help please!

Rear first
depends on how much you drive on the road
if you do a heap of raod driving get a arb in the rear, if its not all that much get a lock-wrong or weld it and just learn to adjust your driving to suit the locker, then save up and get a arb in the front.

It all depends on how deep your pockets are

air lockers win.

although detroits and lockrights are ok they do require an adjustment of on-road driving habits which in my opinion is not acceptable - any gimp should be able to drive your truck without it swapping ends or lurching across the road.

MY45 have you got that airlocker in? let me know how it goes!

cheers

Have you got power stearing ? what kind of motor are you running and is it a toy or an every day driver?
Depending on what you use it for you may want to spend the extra dollors and get a air locker. :?:

Most people talk about putting "this and that" in until you can afford ARBs.

You have lived without a locker so far, so why not wait until you can get the best :?:

BTW, I love my ARBs ;)

I'll be putting in a welded rear and an arb front in the ROCFOX :D

That way I don't have to think to hard...just take the front out when I need to turn or doing higher speeds ;)

Don't you usually try to "upgrade" when you get a new 4x4 FJ45 - Jeep, poor mistake :D :finger:

Yeah I did upgrade, sure the cruiser would beet it in a race but after driving it for 3 years they are to stiff and you have to spend big bucks before you can make one work anywhere near as good as a jeep. If you can show me a stock 40 that can out do a stock cj5 or cj7 bring it on but the facts are they cant.

you could have just used the extra $35,000 on mods. it would have been way better than a jeep.

the thing with jeep's is parts, they cost heeps! and thats if you can find them. and you can buy a hell of a lot more for a cruiser off the shelf here in australia. I ounce cracked a dizzy cap miles from anywere anyway this old bloke from a station nearby pulled up. when I told him my problem he ducked off to the homestead ( 2hr trip)and returned with a cap from one of the dead station trucks.
