Bead Locks on Flipped Rims

Guys, can you run external bead locks on flipped rims?? (on the outside)

i would have thought ud have to run it on the inside as u have flipped the rim so the outside is now the inside? and from what iv gathered u only need to lock the outside bead on.
Could be and prob am wrong tho just my understanding.

You have to machine off the lip of the rim to make it small enough to get the tyre on.
Most rims are designed to have the tyre fitted from one side

it will lock the tyre on yes on the (now outside of the rim), but you will then just keep popping the bead on the inside of the rim. where the seat for the tyre is smaller.
Mech beadlocks on one side of the rim only are usually welded to the side that has the shorter seat for the tyre to sit on, if you look at a rim you'll know what i mean. The inner bead rarely comes off because the bit where the tyre sits is about 50mm wide, wheras on the normally outside of the rim that bit is only about 20mm wide, hence whay this side is beadlocked.
once you flip the rim this all changes.

custom rims,
standard rims mech beadlocks and spacers
or flipped rims and internals are your options here.

on a flipped rim you will have trouble stretching the tyre on because you have to mount it from the wrong side.
