engine weights for 4.2td

hi there does anyone no what the 4.2td plus gear box and transfer weights are as im trying to figure out weather my diesel is to heavy and maybe swap to an LS2 with auto and atlas transfer for my comp rig so any weights on any of these two engine set ups would be good

I dont know the weights but the GU we fitted the L76 to rose 1/2 and inch when we took out the 2.8 TD and fitted an L76 and 4l80e auto.

motor with accessories weighs 450kg and im certain the gearbox and trans weigh more than 100kg. but around 550kg without accessories and oils woud be close.

the ls2 motors weigh like 300ish kg.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

snatchy, i sent my engine by courier and it came to 447 kilos with everything from radiator to bellhousing.

its strange that yours was so much lighter.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

hmmm. don't know what is going on there. the scales i used were certified and were checked using our body weights. Obviously you had a few more bits strapped to it when it went on the scales, but not enough for another 100 odd kilos.

either way the TD 42 falls into the "very heavy" category given its standard power output. i thought it was heavy enough when i weighed it, but at your weights it is really serious. The cummins 5.9 is only about 1000lbs (or 450kg), which will give you 500hp in a daily driver. The duramax 6.6 is close to the TD42 (for when i weighed it) of around 700lbs.

ha ha, dodgy NQX prolly have amped up scales for more money

so i would only be saving a 150kgs thats a far bit of dead weight might have to give this some more thought
