They didn't just surprise me with it, did the obligatory call 1st.
Just hoping this will add up in deductions as it is a "work" truck.

Do you guys think thats a fair price for getting that done at a shop?
never got a clutch done at a shop, done a few myself and $1150 with labor seemed ok.
$80 in oil seems a bit excessive, and both filters were done last service, -10k KM ago, was the filters really needed?
Also, a bit of paper about the "Vehical alignment report" was left in my car.

seems fair mate, oils and filters are a bit expensive, but u get that...
and yes, filters should be changed every time u change ur oil.

I don't see anything outrageous there except the usual gouging on oil.
Clutch swap including parts cost me about 950 (on a TB42) but 1150 was within the range of quotes I got.
Clearly they gave the tihng a good going-over if you got that much done, engine mounts, handbrake shoes etc.

Seems right to me, the clutch is very reasonable, the 4-Terrain we use are dearer than that.
Oil price depends on quantity and quality, dont stress about paying that for a good oil. Anyone can get oil at $3 per litre if they buy a 205 litre, but thats a big outlay for doing it at home.
I know guys that used to charge $300 for clutches in GQ's, they also used to cut the carpet and do other unsavory things.

That is very fair i thing, 17 hours might be a little long but still fair.
To put in perspective althought Im in WA. Im a workshop supervisor in a ford dealership, but I have been service advising for the past 3 months as they cant find a replacement and was advising for about 10 months last year (labour shortage). Our labour rate is $125/hr so for 17.5 hrs=$2187 to do that job i would need it for a week and i would just off the top of my head quote upwards of $3500. if it was here in WA your vehicle might be of the road for 2 weeks or so as there would be a shortage of parts.
and as a guide our labour rate is average over here and i know for a fact toyota and nissan dealers charge $140-$160 an hour.

My last nissan dealer put my windscreen wipers on backwards to they flew off when I activated them. And that's the bits I can see - who knows what else they f#%ked up.
The Jeep dealer left all my wheel nuts loose so by the time I got home I had death wobbles because 3 wheels were about to fall off.
Then again, I took it to a 'specialist 4x4' mechanic, who took $500 off me and gave it back more broken than I brought it to them - and totally undrivable by changing my slight vibration into death wobble from hell, with no idea how they did it. (It turned out they couldn't balance Cooper tyres - they were friggen clueless - and they are THE WELL known mob out my way.)
So I guess you can be lucky ... or not.

Yep, I think its a pretty reasonable price really. Clutch replacement alone on a GQ is a big job, so the labour to do that and the service, panhard bush and lower control arm bush (pull arm press out, press in, refit), engine mounts, transfer case seal (r&r tailshaft) - was it the transfer case seal or the timing case seal?, handbrake shoes, etc is well within reason. Parts are fairly priced too. 10k filter changes are a good idea at minimum IMO.
