Post by 2dextreme »

Just spoke to Todd. They had a good day. Normy dnf both stages today and broke a brake shaft he thinks. GQ Hoon going really well would be the top running truck at this stage.PGS suzi also rolled in the water today and the boiler was giving a lot of trouble for some today. Their off to the mud tonight was saying its very cold hoping there is no water.

Had heard they had run some good consistant times. No doubt still learning the capabilities of the Jeep after it's complete build up. I think Jonnie drove it once in the bush before heading to Broken Hill.

Latest news...............

From Viewmont

- Muppets and Todd & Ivan are in for a very competitive week pushing each other in the some group with Todd & Ivan taking the honours in last nights mud stage.

- Jeanette from Venezuela is sick of the mud already :? She's in for a long day today :D

- Wormy and Clay are still having winch issues.

From Denian

- Birdy and Kev made it to Denian but rocket cover was leaking and has been repaired with some sort of sealant. The also left a hose clamp off which caused something to fall onto the turbo and nearly catch fire.

- Jonnie Stavrou and Andrew Dyer didn't make it out to the sand last night. Believe they have a busted axle.

- Top times on the motorkhana last night were Birdy, Kym Bolton and the Prado from South Africa.

Yes there are plenty of us tragics sitting at home (oh, and working a bit) that can't be there. G'day piglet and fish! The Muppet, Todd and Ivan and Greg and Robbie group is going to have a pretty fast week, or bust something trying!

Cheers, Verena and Todd Joyce (now farming, no longer racing, bummer)

The 3 hour nav stage at Viewmont is awesome  It's a great test of the driver's patience, the nav's endurance and team strategy. You know you have been competing when you get to the end of this stage ;)

That stage is a good one to get at the end of the week, plenty of wheel tracks to follow.

Good job with the updates guys. Really appreciate it.
I am following the Jeeps so any info you come accross would be good to hear about it. Hope Johnnie and Andrew get some good runs in the New TJ. No testing at all if they finish unscathed it will feel like a fairytale. The Venezualen team are a great and funny bunch of people. I hope there new car holds up to the outback. They are also untested. International teams raise the profile of our sport. So far it sounds like the locals are in there comfort zone though. But you never know what the outback has instore for you I guess.

- Jimny from Poland just rolled end over end and back on to their wheels to finsh the motorkhana to a standing ovation

- Birdy and Rohan went head to head on the old Gunbarrel with Rohan taking the honours.

- Jonnie Stavrou & Andrew Dyer were back competing at Denian after replacing a broken axle courtesy of getting airborne out of the water obstacle in the quarry yesterday.

Yeah they arrived in Sydney Friday arvo and they made it to Broken Hill on time. Haven't heard much about them other than Dave & Pam White were going ok at the Quarry yesterday.

Beware if doing repairs in Brocken Hill, someone tried to remove parts from the Zookie overnight. Brett and James were there doing repairs to some electricals after the water logging they got.

Unfortunately have no contacts at Poolamacca or Nundooka at this stage but may get news from Danni while she is in Broken Hill tonight.

Just had a quick call from Jonesy at Denian to say.........

- The Polish Jimny requires repairs in BH after its spectacular roll over earlier today. They attempted the sand wall anyway and dnf'd. As a bit of comraderie the remaining competitors pulled the Jimny up the wall using a winch extension strap
