2.5 TDI Triton - No power??

Post by D_77 »

Hey guys

I just picked up a 1992 2.5 TDI Triton. It doesnt seem to have alot of power and bearly gets up to 100 on the freeways, it also wont rev past 2800-3200 in any of the gears.

There is a injector pump leak that i know of, i think its the cam belt o-ring that it has, but before i replace it.. do you think the injector pump is stuffed?

Trucks done 220k, goes well. blows a little too much black smoke aswell?

runs soild 10-11 psi

need help!!!

thanks

"a little too much black smoke" could be an injector problem - fuel not spraying properly. I'd get the injectors serviced, fix the leak and have the timing checked - whoever does the timing should be able to give you some feedback on the condition of the pump.

It may be wise to replace your timing belts too - have a look at j-top's experience with his timing belt. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/ftopic139484.php
