Ford Courier Fuel stavation/dirty fuel

Post by blackmav »

Mate of mine is haveing issues with his 02 Courier diesel.
Won't rev over 2000rpm,
so he has
drained all the diesel out of the tank and put fresh fuel in,
blown air back down to the tank from the filter,
new fuel filter,
cracked all injectors,
put fuel treatment stuff in.
Turbo still sounds fine.
etc etc.
but, when he sets the hand throttle on flat out and uses the hand primer on the filter to put more fuel in it will rev harder, but still rough?

Gunna try and see if there is a gauze filter under the banjo fitting on the pump, don't know if there is one?

Suggestions?

yep, Id say a gauze filter somewhere for sure.

Had similar problem. Gauze filter was full of crap( even a bee) .

But my prob in the end was a chunk of carpet strands in the tank pick up line.

Longe range tank fixed it.

Solved. Sort of.
gauze filter was full of rusty shit. Cleaned it out, went for a run and fifteen minutes later the same thing.
Cleaned it out again and went for a run, all good.
Better quality fuel filter is on the way. Maybe a fleetguard.

any1 in the know nows that the first tank or 2 of bio collects all the crap out of your fuel tank and brings it up to the filters.

Maybe if it continually blocks his car after a few tanks, then Maybe, MAYBE there would be a problem.
