hi all most prompt replies would be appreciated,

my waterpump on my 95 sierra sounds not very flash(no leaks yet)
I am supposed to be leavong for fraser island midnight tomorro so i thought i would have time to swap it out now but have hit a hurdle.

how much does actually have to come off to replace it, is there a bolt behind the timing belt pulley and does the timing belt have to come off.

Can't recall re the pulley (maybe) but the belt sure does have to come off.

Should only take a couple of hours, maybe 3, to replace a water pump if you know what you are doing and you have the right tools.
EDIT: Jeez I hate that.. One minute..

Do the pump or get someone to do it before you go, it will cost heaps more to retrieve the car from the middle of Fraser once it has siezed the pump and overheated the motor!!

About 1-2hours if you have 10mm, 12mm, ratchet, breaker bar, and extension bars. You will also need new coolant.

The most difficult part is removing the radiator and fan shroud.
Once out loosen alternator (12mm bolt), remove the belt.
Remove the fan blades (10mm socket), then proceed to removing timing belt cover (10mm socket, remember which bolts go where some are few mm longer)
Mark the timing belt with a nikko pen on the gears and belt so you can line it up perfect again. Loosen the belt tension pulley. Remove belt. Then remove water pump. And reverse the procedure for installation.

Pretty straight forwards, if you are a little mechanical minded. Hope this helps a little, i replaced mine over a 1year ago so things might be a little different.
